Teaching Philosophy
At Discovery Kids Preschool our first goal as preschool teachers is to make each day exciting! We want the children to love learning and to love coming to preschool. This is their first experience in a classroom setting and we want them to enjoy it, to feel comfortable, and to feel confident.
Our second goal is for each preschooler to succeed academically. We want them to stretch themselves, to realize their own learning potential and to seek out information by asking questions and applying new concepts.
Our last goal is for our students to be confident in a classroom setting by knowing when to share ideas and when to listen. I want my preschoolers to make new friends and strengthen those relationships using life skills and good communication.
Building a Strong Foundation for Kindergarten & Beyond
At Discovery Kids Preschool, we believe children learn best when they're having fun! Our curriculum is designed to help little learners grow academically, socially, emotionally, and physically through hands-on activities, creative exploration, and purposeful play.
We incorporate Utah's Early Learning Standards into our daily activities, helping children develop important skills while building confidence, independence, and a lifelong love of learning.

Through stories, songs, conversations, and playful activities, children build the skills they need to become confident readers and writers. We focus on letter recognition, letter sounds, rhyming, listening, speaking, comprehension, and early writing skills.

Counting, recognizing numbers, exploring shapes, sorting, measuring, comparing, and discovering patterns are all part of our day! Children develop early math skills through games, hands-on activities, and everyday discoveries.

Preschoolers are naturally curious! We encourage children to explore the world around them using their senses, making observations, asking questions, experimenting, and discovering how things work.

Celebrating Every Step of Your Child's Growth!
Throughout the school year, we collect special pieces of your child's artwork and schoolwork to create a personalized portfolio. Each preschooler gets to decorate their own cover, making it a one-of-a-kind keepsake!
Portfolios are presented at our end-of-year performance and offer families a wonderful opportunity to see how much their child has learned, grown, and accomplished throughout the year.

Every preschool year is filled with special moments worth remembering!
At the end of each school year, we create a beautiful photo yearbook celebrating your child's preschool adventures. These 20-page, 8 × 11-inch softcover books feature favorite moments from classroom activities, hands-on learning, holiday celebrations, friendships, and everyday fun.
Using photos from our monthly slideshows, each yearbook brings together a wonderful collection of memories from the entire school year.
